Tarzan Plant: King of the Marginatas
This guy didn't receive such a grand title for nothing. Descendant of the Madagascar Dragon Tree, capable of growing 15 feet tall, but surprisingly low maintenance. It's evident why you'll want this tropical addition to your collection. Here's what we know about caring for your Tarzan plant.
Light
Medium to low light conditions are ideal. Try and avoid placing them in long periods of full, direct sunlight. If placed in mostly lowlight conditions, you might want to reduce watering to accommodate this.
Watering
The Tarzan Plant definitely prefers dry periods between watering. So be sure to check the soil before each watering. You'll begin to recognize patterns with your tree, when you should hold off watering and when it could use a drink. The time between watering will likely be longer in the winter and shorter in the summer. Very likely your water contains minerals and chlorine your plant won't appreciate. So it's a good idea to let the water sit in an open container for 24 hours to allow some of the unnecessary components to evaporate.
Environment
The Tarzan Plant certainly appreciates some humidity. While it's an easy-going guy, it's nice to keep it away from vents and drafty areas of your home. A nice mist every once in a while is always appreciated.
Extra Care
If the tips of some of the leaves start to brown, don't remove the entire leaf. You can cut the edge off in the shape it naturally grows, and it'll be good to go. Dusting your tree from time to time gives the leaves room to breathe, and also enhances the aesthetic of your plant.
We love the Tarzan Plant - and unfortunately so will your cat. If you have a four-legged roommate, you might want to pay attention that they're not chewing on the leaves from time to time. Other than that, get ready for an exotic and rewarding addition to your home.
