Part I: Position Summary

The Financial Manager directs the financial affairs of the organization and prepares financial analyses of operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for the guidance of management. The Financial Manager is responsible for the company’s financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance internal controls, fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports. The position involves supervision over general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting, budgetary controls, and performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Part II: Essential Duties

  • Oversee and manage all areas of financial operations and reporting to validate the accuracy and integrity of financial data.

  • Creating and implementing short and long term financial strategies

  • Participate in practicing and teaching open book management with entire company during designated team meetings for and with other company leaders.

  • Develop, analyze, and interpret statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.

  • Evaluate and manage the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department, recommend administrative needs, and keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company goals and objectives.

  • Assure corporate compliance with financial reporting requirements of all contracts and regulatory entities

  • Maintain the company's system of accounts, keeping books and records on all company transactions, business assets.

  • Assist senior management in establishing economic objectives and policies for the company and prepare timely reports that outline the company's financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.

  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, institute and maintain other planning and control procedures (including cost accounting system), and analyze and report variances.

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with financial institutions, accounting firms, suppliers, vendors, and internal staff.

  • Oversee tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.

  • Oversee and manage processes for accounts payable, A/R collections, payroll reporting, and administration of benefits such as the 401(k), medical, and company insurance plans. o Furnish internal reports, revise and update reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnish external reports as necessary as required by the company’s external CPA’s in preparation for the year-end tax return review and filing.

  • Determine depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advise management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax revisions.

  • Evaluate, recommend and maintain insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.

  • Project and manage cash flow in accordance with shifting priorities.

  • Assist and advise senior leadership on financial management issues.

  • Create, implement, and track short and long term incentives for all level team members

    The Financial Manager position has direct supervisory responsibility for all accounting department staff, and has the authority to direct, oversee, and provide guidance on financial functions as they relate to operations that are the responsibility of department managers.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance. Graduate degree and CPA certified is a plus.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a financial management position within a service company of similar complexity and structure, and experience with GAAP.

  • Highly developed organizational and prioritizing abilities, with prior administrative management expertise preferred.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, functions independently and accurately, and meets deadlines.

  • Ability to work effectively and enthusiastically with other staff members, clients, and vendors in a pleasant and professional manner.

  • Willingness and ability to be flexible to changing needs.

  • High level of proficiency in PC-based computer systems including Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook). Familiarity with QuickBooks Software a plus.
