Christmas in Logan Square, Philadelphia 2021
Anyone who has been there knows Christmas in Philadelphia is a magical experience. But with the impact of COVID-19, the past couple of years have not been the Philly Christmas everyone was used to. What will the holiday season be like this year? What can you expect when visiting Philadelphia this December? We can promise you this year's celebration will not disappoint. Here's where you can find the Christmas magic around Logan Square this year.
Thanksgiving Day Parade Philadelphia 2021
We can't recommend enough taking part in one of the oldest holiday traditions of Philadelphia. Celebrating over 100 years of parades, this year's will bring even more vigor after the pandemic break it took last year. It will take some planning, but no family will regret taking time to watch as the holiday magic is ushered into the city on Thanksgiving Day. Dancers, floats, and more will begin their path through Philadelphia at 9:00 AM. They'll begin their route at 20th St & JFK Parkway and make their way to the Philadelphia Art Museum. Where's the best place to watch? We recommend Logan Square. We recommend setting up shop early with a few snacks and chairs, but it will be well worth it. Philadelphia's 6abc promises this celebration will be "bigger and better than ever!"
Philly's Christmas Village
You'll have all the way from Thanksgiving Day to Christmas Eve to enjoy the traditional German Christmas Market Philly puts on year after year. Enjoy as the city is transformed into something magical and packed with the bustle of celebrating residents & visitors. The market will feature 100+ vendors spreading their cheer over City Hall and Love Park, just Southeast of Logan Square. The open-air market offers gifts & little delights that keep visitors returning year after year. Vendors offering ornaments, art, food, drinks, clothing, and more will light up Center City for the month of December. This year even promises a double-decker carousel and traditional German food court that you will not want to miss.
Macy's Christmas Light Show
It wouldn't be a complete experience without a visit to the Wanamaker Building. The iconic Macy's has put on a dazzling light show in celebration since 1956. Thousands upon thousands of glittering lights will dance along to the music of the largest playable instrument on earth. You'll certainly have your opportunity to see this, as it will be available once a day from December 1st to 31st. From December 1st to 24th the show will begin at 10:30AM, and from the 26th to the 31st it moves to 11:30AM. The Wanamaker Building does inform us that the schedule is subject to change, so they suggest keeping up on the Santaland website.
